Will I feel any pain?

You will most likely feel absolutely nothing!

Will I be unconscious? 

No, you will be in a deeply relaxed state and will be responsive.

Will I be monitored and how?

Yes, one of our team is always with you and your vital signs are monitored during the entire visit. You are never alone.

Dr. Nix follows the Standard of Care for oral conscious sedation of dental patients, and utilizes the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation guidelines for monitoring sedated patients. You will be placed on a vitacare Pulse Oximeter to measure your vital signs throughout your appointment. We also have Lexicomp Drug Interaction software to help assure that you will have NO complications of any kind during your sedation.  

Don't all dentists use this monitoring system?

NO! While oral conscious sedation is routinely safe Dr. Nix would never sedate a patient without the proper training and equipment needed to monitor his patients. If you are considering oral sedation, seek out a dentist who has the training and patient monitoring equipment. 

How long will I be snoozing?

Depending on your specific dental needs, from two to six hours.

Will someone need to accompany me?

Yes, due to the sedative effects of the medication you need someone to drive you to our office and home again.
